Jobs in the hospitality industry are not just about the high profile, on-show front of house roles.  Many behind the scenes and management jobs essential to the smooth running of venues and businesses in the industry are also available.

There are many general office jobs as in any business, such as accounting, human resources and sales and marketing.  There are also more hospitality-focused roles like those in function management and gaming.  In all these areas there are opportunities to move up into supervisory and management roles.

As the ‘look and feel’ of a venue is one of the reasons many guests choose to stay at particular hotels, it is important that they are kept up to date and are obviously well cared for. Maintenance of hotel buildings and facilities is important not only for guests’ comfort and well-being, but for their safety and security, as well as that of hotel staff.

Jobs are available in such different areas as maintenance, design, decorating, carpentry, gardening, electricity and plumbing.  There is also a need for security guards, surveillance officers and security managers. While smaller businesses may hire specialist tradespeople and contractors as the need for these services arise, the larger resorts and hotels have permanent staff to do these jobs.
